Problems and solutions in the choreographic process

 So far in the choreographic process, we have encountered problems such as spacing and time management. This table shows the problems and solutions from our choreography piece.

    I understand you have used a table for clarity. However, I think to make it more like a written blog post, don't use the table format but that's completely up to you. :)

    Hello Sylvia, I really like how you have set this out and it is quite creative, the detail is also really good. However, maybe for the future try to write it up instead of using the table, so it clearer for us reading and for you as well when you are reading it.

    I agree with your peers I like that you have displayed the problems and solutions in a visually appealing way. However it is quite blurry and hard to read, I think maybe you should write it up so that the reader can understand what you have written. I also think it would be great if you could potentially include either some videos of the before and after or a drawing to help the reader understand the changes you made and what the impact was.

    Well done Sylvia I really liked how you set out your post, however it was a little difficult to read. To add, maybe for next time you could say what you will do before class to prepare yourself for teaching choreography, e.g. finding the counts in the music. I hope you found this useful and well done.

Choreography Stimulus

In one of the very first choreography lessons, our teacher introduced us to choreography by giving us an image and asking us what our first thoughts about the image were. We were then asked how we could then tell the audience through our movement what the image was. This was very beneficial because we can take that advice and the feedback that we were given to help us with our group choreography piece. We chose the stimulus for our group piece by voting out of four images which we, as an individual liked the most. We then agreed that the brain image would be best to choreograph for because there were so many different interpretations. It was very interesting to hear people’s suggestions for the theme such as using technology to hide emotions and how social media can lead to mental health problems.  To me, the stimulus is exposing mental health for not just affecting you on the inside mentally but also on the outside physically. Choreographic devices

One of the choreographic devices we have used is formation. In the beginning of the piece we are all in a formation, each row in different levels, representing the brain. We then each individually spread out into places in the stage with movements that represent/ show the emotion that we have been given. After this a split focus will occur with different levels- A small group of people will be doing set choreography, on a high level, created by a member of the group whilst the rest of the group will be doing different choreography on a lower level. Later on in the piece there is a short count of music that will be for a cannon. I think this represents the process of the brain and the signals that you get from a reaction. Using the choreographic devices has helped us develop a better idea as to what that movement means which helps us link back to the theme which is mental health and DID.
