Choreographic devices

One of the choreographic devices we have used is formation. In the beginning of the piece we are all in a formation, each row in different levels, representing the brain. We then each individually spread out into places in the stage with movements that represent/ show the emotion that we have been given. After this a split focus will occur with different levels- A small group of people will be doing set choreography, on a high level, created by a member of the group whilst the rest of the group will be doing different choreography on a lower level. Later on in the piece there is a short count of music that will be for a cannon. I think this represents the process of the brain and the signals that you get from a reaction.

Using the choreographic devices has helped us develop a better idea as to what that movement means which helps us link back to the theme which is mental health and DID. For example, myself and another member of the team have created the idea of the emotions colliding during the split focus when we all separate into our own emotions. I think this shows the confusion and fight between each emotion.

  1. Hi Sylvia well done! This is really good, I love that you have linked into the theme of DID, however to improve on this I think you could possibly go into more detail and explain how it links back to the stimulus and theme. Great work! I hope this is helpful :)

  2. Hi sylvia. This is a really good blog post. I would try to think about how the flow of the choreography links back to the flow of the 'storyline' starting at the stimulus. Maybe this will help to identify some more main ideas.

  3. Hello Sylvia! This is really good. An idea for improvement would be really think about the stimulus and really try and link it all back to that, it will help with all of this work if you keep remembering it.
    I hope this helps!

  4. Hello Sylvia! Great work with this blog post. For improvement, think about how dissociative identity disorder links back to the original stimulus. Well done though!!

  5. Good work, I like that you have included examples and what they represent. I do however agree with the comments of your peers that you could go into more detail of the significance it has to the overall theme.
